Exchanges with other EC-co-funded projects (FP7):
-
EnerGEO: The project EnerGEO is co-funded by DG-RTD Environment. It has developed a GEOSS-compliant catalog service for the Web (CSW) dedicated to energy. This CSW permits to describe resources using INSPIRE-compliant metadata, exposing such services for discovery as this catalog is harvested by the GEOSS crawler and others. The Web services to be developed in ENDORSE will be declared in this catalog. Conversely, ENDORSE will provide feedback on the use of this catalog for declaration of service and will contribute to EnerGEO by adding evidence of the usefullness of this catalog.
On Sept. 3rd 2013, ENDORSE and ENERGEO have created a jointed session in the EnviroInfo event, Hamburg, Germany. Several outcomes of the ENDORSE project are potential candidates for the development of web services, and these topics are discussed in several communications which are listed in another section of this website. Click here to take a look to these contributions. - GENESIS: The DG-INFSO-co-funded GENESIS project (Generic European sustainable information space for environment) has developed a series of Web technologies for constituting collaborative information networks integrating existing systems. Armines has tested a toolbox developed by the Italian company Intecs in the framework of the GEOSS pilot AIP-3 (2010). This toolbox has been used to create the web processing service (WPS) on the sun position in the sky (WP 3), and will be used further for other WPS in ENDORSE. Reciprocally, feedback on the use of this toolbox is provided to GENESIS.

GMES-PURE: On 11and 12 June 2013, MACC-II (the EU FP7 project currently delivering pre-operational atmosphere services) and GMES-PURE (the EU FP7 project analysing long-term Copernicus requirements for the atmosphere and ocean domains) has jointly organized a user workshop dedicated to the Copernicus services for atmosphere. Transvalor has been welcomed as a SME representative, and use this opportunity to present a PowerPoint presentation about the service S4 about the Typical Meteorological Year generation service
. A strong accent has been given to the user-interaction aspect.
- GRAAL: GRAAL (GMES & Regions - Awareness and Access Link) has as overall objective to increase awareness amongst local and regional authorities (LRAs) of the potential benefits of GMES Copernicus downstream services. This objective is achieved by developing specific communication tools and web services. The main communication tool is the web portal Copernicus4Regions. In that framework, the ENDORSE coordinator Mr. Wald has been approached and asked to participate to the publication of the journal "Window on GMES". We provide a contribution dealing about three of the 10 ENDORSE services: B1 mapping biomass, W1 wind annual energy ouput, and E1 load balancing. The article originally produced in English, has been translated into French, Dutch, Italian and Spanish. The date of publication is after Feb. 2013. Reference:

Exchanges with COST actions:
- The service ENDORSE E1 "load balancing" has been discussed in the action COST #ES-1002 WIRE (weather intelligence for renewable energies". This action aims at addressing the scientific challenges that would make possible the provision of best weather information for forecasting the energy of wind and solar power plants for the next minutes up to several days ahead. This service E1 could serve as an example and tested for advanced methods.
- A European workshop has been organized by MINES ParisTech, in Sophia-Antipolis, France, in March 22nd-24th, 2011. During the poster session of the workshop, Mines ParisTech and Transvalor presented the SoDa Service and the HelioClim databases. This was an opportunity to show how the ENDORSE project will contribute to the improvement of several on-going SoDa services and the development of new services for the solar radiation Community. IRENA:
- Atlas over Mozambique (planned): In the tracks of the IRENA Global Atlas, a solar atlas over Mozambique is under construction trhough a collaboration between MINES ParisTech, Masdar Institute and the University of Maputo.
-
Global Atlas IRENA:
- Thomas Wanderer, from DLR, plans to integrate the CSP GIS Service into the Global Atlas by mid-2014.
- ARMINES has provided several atlases to populate the atlas, and in particular the solar atlas PACA in Jan. 2013.
- Armines presented ENDORSE to IRENA in Abu Dhabi, 24 Oct. 2011.
